Tactical FAQ

How does Furnace's Prey mechanic work in Abyssal Escape?
Furnace marks a target Survivor as his Prey, enhancing his tracking awareness and turning his Jet Booster and Combust follow-ups into lethal execution tools.
Can Survivors bodyblock Furnace effectively?
Bodyblocking Furnace is extremely dangerous because his Combust ability triggers a fiery AoE explosion that damages multiple clustered Survivor Vessels at once.

Why Furnace Dominates the October 2026 Playtest

Inspired by the iconic Starved Eggman / Prey creepypasta universe, Furnace is a towering metallic executioner in Abyssal Escape. In our Killer Tier List, Furnace shares S-Tier with 2017X because his kit solves the two biggest problems Killers face in 8v1 Roblox ASYM games: losing track of stealthy Vessels in dark fog and getting bodyblocked by coordinated stun squads.

Furnace Moveset & Ability Breakdown (Q / E / R)

Furnace combines mechanical propulsion with high-heat area denial across all three match phases:

Ability Name Role in Kit Tactical Execution Details
Prey (Target Lock) Tracking / Mark Locks onto a Survivor Vessel, preventing them from easily vanishing into dark corners and feeding Furnace’s pursuit tempo.
Jet Booster High-Speed Charge Ignites Furnace’s thrusters to rocket across corridors, closing distance faster than a Survivor’s standard run speed.
Combust AoE Blast / Finisher Releases a violent thermal explosion around Furnace, punishing Survivors who attempt close-range loops or group rescues.
Phase 1–3 Overheat Evolution Passive As Furnace progresses from Phase 1 to Phase 3, his furnace core glows brighter and his ability pressure escalates.

Optimal Furnace Execution Loop (Phase 1 to Phase 3)

  1. Tag First, Boost Second: Always establish your Prey target before committing your Jet Booster cooldown. Boosting blindly into an intersection allows Survivors to juke into side rooms while you recover.
  2. Use Combust to Punish Stun Rescues: When you down or corner a Vessel, teammates carrying Homing Attack or Drop Dash (see our Survivor Abilities Guide) will often rush in to stun you. Trigger Combust as they enter melee range to trade damage across multiple Survivors simultaneously.
  3. Cut Off Dispelling Mists Routes: Smart Survivors will sprint toward Dispelling Mists to disrupt Killer tracking. Position yourself between your Prey target and the nearest purple mist corridor.

How Survivors Counter Furnace

  • Break Line of Sight Before Jet Booster Ignites: Watch Furnace’s metallic thruster animation. The instant he winds up Jet Booster, duck behind a solid stone pillar or doorway frame so his charge slams into geometry.
  • Use Trap or Banana Peel in Narrow Chokes: Because Furnace relies on linear thruster bursts, placing a Trap or Banana Peel inside narrow doorways forces him to either eat the crowd control or take a wide detour. Check our Beginner Survival Guide for stamina routing tips.
